My Story
My journey into wellness began in my childhood on a farm, where I first administered immunizations to piglets, igniting my passion for functional movement. This passion evolved during my service as a combat medic in the United States Army, where I creatively led the Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Training program. Dissatisfied with the initial outcomes, I revamped the program, resulting in fewer challenges during labor and delivery and a significant increase in retention for soldiers returning from postpartum leave. I believe that by incorporating Pilates that this created the most significant outcomes. My overhaul of the Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Training Program was featured in the Army Times and the NCO (Noncommissioned Officer) Journal. To date, my program is still used Army-wide. Once my time in the Army came to a close, I sought a career that focused on functional movement and using functional movement and occupation to heal. This lead to my earning my certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. My experiences have shaped my commitment to fostering wellness and supporting others in their journey.
